Honesty is the foundation for the design of this prototype fast food restaurant. The public display of the food preparation process; the cutting of the fresh potatoes in the making of the French fries as seen by drive-through visitors; the bare, concrete floors and the exposed structure reinforce the integrity of the owner’s brand identity. The simple, bold planes of color that inform the design of the building’s exterior enable 96th Street to stand out among the visually cluttered strip of outlot retail structures. Once inside, space is divided into two, discreet zones for quick, in/out eating and “sit down” dining. Industrial track lighting, plywood and brushed aluminum furnishings underpin the openness of the restaurant’s concept.
