In designing this residence, the owner held tightly to a portfolio of reference images that included a Regency Townhouse in London, The Owen-Thomas House in Savannah, and Shutze’s Swan House in Atlanta. Our task was to weave together these and other Regency patterns across the exterior and interior of this four level home.
Of great inspiration and gratification for our designer was working within this period context, reflected in the coloring and intricate millwork and casework throughout. Especially significant, are the door and window casings, and fireplace fronts in the entry stair hall and public rooms on the “piano noble”. Researching, designing and detailing every mold, applied ornament, and baluster post was a challenging and thrilling exercise.
Furthering our joy in designing this significant home, was organizing it to hold fine antiques, family heirlooms, and collections the owners have amassed over the years. It is a very personal home tailored to the comfort and aesthetic of a discerning couple.
