Alpha Phi

Butler University |  Indianapolis, IN

Renovating the Alpha Phi house at Butler University involved re-envisioning the current plan to create a more functional and effective use of space. The existing formal and informal living spaces were flipped, moving formal areas forward and the causal “student hangout spaces” to the back of the home.

Updating and lightening the home’s aesthetic was a major goal of the renovation. A newly selected color scheme of soft, warm hues and preppy blues enliven the home and reflects the energy of the women who live there.

On the second floor, the TV room was reconfigured to create a more functional lounge area inclusive of a custom built-in banquette for informal study and custom cubbies to act as the new mail area. Sparkle is added in the form of wall covering behind this seating and helps define the niche from the rest of the room.

Special attention was also paid to branding throughout the home. Photo collages of past pledge classes and hand drawn pieces of chapter nostalgia were integrated within the design.
