Alpha Xi Delta

University of Illinois  |  Champaign, IL

In 2008, Alpha Xi Delta recolonized its Kappa Chapter at the University of Illinois and announced its new house location at 1004 South Second Street in Champaign. Alpha Xi Delta officially installed the chapter in March 2009. In the summer of 2011 Rowland was asked to help with some improvements to the first floor of the house.

While the existing furniture was relatively new and in good condition, the house lacked warmth and had never appeared to be quite “finished”. While the living room had been painted a soft blue color, a new warmer neutral paint was introduced to enhance the existing furniture and to add a homey feel to the living room. New accent colors of turquoise and bittersweet were added by way of accessories, upholsteries and pillows. In the existing sun room, an additional study table was added and library shelving was accessorized. The existing light blue wall paint remained, while the black and white upholstery in the room was enhanced with a buffalo plaid rug, and black and white photos of the sororities founders. New tables and chairs were purchased for the dining room and new window treatments were added throughout.
