Purchasing Coordinator

Rowland Design is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator to join our Administrative Team. This position is part-time with the potential to lead to full-time. The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing, interior design, furniture showroom, or similar. And, the ability to perform bookkeeping and administrative functions. Knowledge of the design industry is extremely helpful in this position.

Responsibilities include partnering with existing Purchasing Coordinator in all areas of Merchandise Procurement to:

  • Research, price, and check availability of products specified by Designers
  • Purchase merchandise online
  • Track lead times and freight information on Purchase Orders
  • Field phone calls from vendors and clients
  • Schedule furniture deliveries with receiving companies and clients
  • Track incoming freight damage, reorder as necessary, and file freight claims
  • Prepare formal client quotations
  • Create Purchase Orders in accounting software
  • Create and send client invoices

Support of other Accounting/Administrative, Design Team functions as needed, including:

  • Telephone switchboard aid
  • Finish and fabric selection aid


  • Responsible, detail oriented person able to multi-task in a fast paced environment is a MUST
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficient in entering and updating data into the accounting system
  • Conscientious, flexible, and team player attitude
  • People pleaser
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
